What We Do
With the purpose statement of “We Ensure Exceptional Healthcare Providers,” our team of credentialing professionals in the Credentials and Qualifications Department (CQD) are here to assist with your Broward Health credentialing needs and questions. The CQD functions as the centralized verification office for processing credentialing and privileging applications in support of the regional hospitals within Broward Health. We do this with a focus on cost-effectiveness, efficiency, high quality, and customer service excellence.

Janice has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare management and medical staff services, with a law enforcement and legal background before then. Her Broward Health journey began in 2009 as the Regional Manager of Medical Staff Administration at Imperial Point, then transitioned to be the first Director of the CQD, next was a project manager in the Corporate Marketing and Communications Department, and then a Senior Project Manager in the Information Technology Department. She returned to Northwest Florida for a few years before rejoining Broward Health in 2023 in her current role. Janice earned an MBA degree in healthcare management from Western Governors University and has worked in public and private industries, in profit and non-profit settings. She is active in several professional organizations and stays current on healthcare trends. Additionally, she is affiliated with Gulf Coast State College and Mississippi State University as an adjunct instructor, assisting veteran entrepreneurs. A Florida native, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and has a passion for travel, music, and cats.

Assignment: Initial applications for providers whose primary facility is at Broward Health Imperial Point and Broward Health Medical Center; also, initial applications for providers contracted with these groups: Envision, Mednax, Schumacher, and AllStar.
Meme is a Fort Lauderdale native and has one daughter. She loves going to see both old and new movies in her spare time. She has a broad range of healthcare experience, from training in physical therapy and massage therapy to managing a department. Her career at Broward Health started first as a temp in 2005 and then in a permanent role in 2007. She has worked at Broward Health Medical Center and Broward Health Coral Springs before landing in her current role within the CQD. With her vast knowledge of the organization and credentialing experience, she has a wealth of information and can easily work through any issues that come her way. Her longevity and varied experience with Broward Health have earned her the title of “department historian.” Meme takes pride in assisting both her teammates and those in the medical staff offices.

Maureen has lived in Broward County most of her life after relocating from New York. She has one daughter. She holds the record in this department as having the most longevity at Broward Health, starting her journey in 1997 in the HIM Department and next in the IT Department. She joined the CQD in 2018. Maureen is meticulous with details, ensuring the integrity of her files. Maureen applies her long-time healthcare experience to consistently provide top-notch service to all her customers.

Bridget is a Fort Lauderdale native and has three lovely daughters. She began working with Broward Health in 2001, having begun her journey as an Outpatient Coding Specialist and later transitioning to the Managed Care Department. She joined the CQD in 2014 and has a supervisory role. Bridget has expertise not only in all aspects of credentialing and privileging, but she is known as our go-to person for all things tech-related. Her ability to navigate through software helps ensure proper processes are developed and followed.

Originally from Columbia, Maryland, Kelly has made Broward County her home for more than twenty years, settling here with her husband and their four-legged child, Max Knox. Her credentialing career started in 2003 as a Medical Staff Coordinator for a South Florida locums company and has since worked in the areas of privileging, managed care, and mergers & acquisitions credentialing. She initially joined Broward Health as a Medical Staff Coordinator at Imperial Point in 2014 and then became an original member of the newly founded Credentials and Qualifications Department. After leaving Broward Health in 2018 to explore other opportunities, she returned to the CQD as a Reappointments Team member in April 2023. Kelly’s multi-faceted credentialing background brings well-rounded experience to the CQD team.

Tracy Valcourt has over 20 years of healthcare experience and a strong background in collaborative leadership. Tracy is well-versed in maintaining high standards of care and compliance with regulations and implementations of organizations. She is a native South Floridian and values the importance of spending quality time with my family in her personal time.
Applying for Medical Staff Membership and Clinical Privileges
Applicants desiring to practice at one or more Broward Health’s hospitals will start the process by requesting a pre-appointment application. This process is to review your qualifications and determine if you qualify to join the medical staff and/or have clinical privileges. The following disciplines may apply:
Physicians - Allopathic and Osteopathic Doctors, Podiatrists, Dentists and Oral-Maxillofacial Surgeons, Psychiatrists, and Psychologists
Advanced Practice Providers - Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, including but not limited to Nurse Midwives and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists

Reappointments and Miscellaneous Credentialing Requests
Existing medical staff members and Advance Practice Providers (APP) will receive an email notification about reappointment from the Credentials and Qualifications Department (CQD) approximately six months prior to expiration of their current appointment and privileges expiration date. If you do not receive this email notification, please contact the Credentials Specialist assigned to your file (based on your primary facility). It is important for you to return the completed reappointment application no later than the date indicated in the notification to allow sufficient processing and review.
Existing staff members and APPs should promptly contact their assigned Credentials Specialist to update their records whenever they have demographic or practice information changes, APP/physician sponsorship needs to be updated, or when a required reporting event occurs.
